Tamar, december 2002. Surprisingly large amount of ice, given
the short period of freezing cold.
The Ribomania (WI 6+) route has been bothering
me each year, but there was either a shortage of ice or my mental state
wasn't fit enough for the challenge. This year it was different.
Still, I had to run somewhere befor the ascent. I couldn't
hide though. Those photo spies couldn't care less about the privacy in certain
moments...
Banana breakfast for steady nerves and some
monkey mood.
The usual story with gear goes like this: I am either short of it and
I run out of it on the route or I simply dont take enough of it on a climb
and I run out of it anyway. There is no third option.
On the routes where taking a fall would be a
very nasty deed indeed, I usually take ample amount of time to cope with
the problems.
Leaving my Gore-tex down at the base I was absorbing large amounts of
water.
Was I cold?
After a relieving rappel I had to jump out of the wet clothes and turn
from Wet man into a Naranjito...
And spend some more time climbing normal routes in a normal manner..
...
We spent the rest of the day climbing the Rarity
(WI 5).Enjoyable and memory-reviving climb to finish a great day out there...
